[html] Hi,

Gr, Arent

Hi,

Gavin stuurde ons het volgende:

Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club

Javelin European Championships 2006

Dates
Wednesday 26th July Arrival and measuring please arrive early if you need sails measuring
Thursday 27th Race day 1
Friday 28th Race day 2
Saturday 29th Race day 3
Sunday 30th Race day 4 and Prize giving dinner.
Monday 31st Departure

Location
Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club is situated at the mouth of the River Deben 2miles north of the town of Felixstowe in Suffolk. Felixstowe is approximately 30 miles from Harwich International port ferry terminal. Sheltered launching is available at the club from any of three slipways which give access to the river, The race area is at sea usually just to the North of the mouth of the river.

Race Series
The championship will be held over four days with a maximum of ten races to be sailed. Final number of races will be at the discretion of the Race Officer.
The Championship will be sailed during one of the East Coast’s premier dinghy sailing weeks.
Courses
A traditional triangle sausage triangle course will be sailed. The duration of each race will be between 50 and 75 minutes.
Being part of Deben week we will be given separate separate starts and the Race Officer will be making considerable efforts to keep the fleets apart. Out of interest other classes sailing will be a mixed fleet Shearwater Catamarans and Fireflies.

Off The Water

Camping
There are a number of local campsites but FFSC are able to make the Millenium Green available for camping and will allow some of their limited car park space for camper vans. The facilities are basic but the club is available until late with a public convenience adjacent to the club and main carpark.

Social Programme
Traditionally there is a packed programme of events throughout Deben Week and the club will be including the cost of two meals Thursday night and Saturday night in with the entry fee for competitors. The theme of each I believe is yet to be decided.
We are intending to have a prizegiving dinner on the Sunday night and we will be arranging a musical interlude on one of the other nights.

Around and about
Felixstowe Ferry is a small settlement with a number of houses two pubs a sailing club art gallery and a boatyard. You can catch the ferry across the river to Bawdsey and there are numerous coastal walks and cycle routes going North into Suffolk.
Historically Felixstowe and the local area have a number of sites of interest. These range from The Viking burial ship at Sutton Hoo near Woodbridge through to Bawdsey Manor where Radar was developed and slightly further afield to Snape Maltings and Aldburgh.

Getting there.
From Harwich International Port take the A120 to Colchester A12 to Ipswich then A14 to Felixstowe then follow signs for boat launching and watersports. For us English its even easier go to the very end of the A14 in Felixstowe and head north along the coast until you can go no further.

Costs
Entry Fee £95 per boat
Camping £5 per night per tent.
Campers £7 per night per van.

So what do I do now

The club would like an indication of numbers before the event so Mike will be putting a pre-entry page on the website. Where you can indicate if you intend to camp etc
Any queries should be addressed to Gavin Johnson either by phone 07831413424 or Email gavin.johnson@virgin.net
