Hello everybody,
For this year’s Europeans we have won the ZSK in Bad Zwischenahn for hoisting an event very suitable for the Javelin family: The lake quite near to the dutch border isn’t that big but the crew is very experienced in laying long legs over the whole of the lake – so we’ll have lots of racing excitements. The wind situation is good even in summer as the north sea is not far. The Club is quite big and has a very nice and sunny terrace, from which the Javelin family can watch most of the racing. The area is a famous address for holiday making and lots of attractions can be visited.
Camping is free on the Club grounds and offers enough space for Caravans and Campers. Dogs are allowed. But there are lots of other overnight possibilities – next to the Club grounds is a youth hostel. The small town offers lots of pensions and hotels – it’s just a 20min walk to the center of the town (and a very idyllic one too). We’ll prepare a flyer for all the activities you could do with your family.
The Club has a Restaurant and will try to organize a lot of meals for the whole of the family (participants included in the price). But keep in mind that it is closed on Monday if you intend to arrive then. Up to the Sunday the club hoists the german championships for the “H-Jollen” – class, so please try not to arrive before Monday as it might be very busy then.
Sailingwise we’ll have the Triangle and Sossage – Course format with a start form a wooden platform in the middle (and also finish there). As mentioned the legs are quite long – ask your dutch friends as they know the format well.
Around the lake metallic marks are anchored, starting with “1” in the north to “8” in the north-east – even numbers colored red and uneven numbers yellow. The windward mark mostly is an inflateable “A” – so the course could be for example “A – 4 – 6” signaled at the start. I will be able to issue the sailing instructions soon. An entry form will be included, but if you want, you can register right now via:
Jens Schlittenhard – Schleinitzstr. 2 – D-38106 Braunschweig, Javelin_KV@gmx.de
We’ll have an attractive event there – so come and join in !!
